Two-fer-Tuesday ~ Emerge and Embrace by S.E. Hall

I had the privilege of reading these wonderful books for review. I had heard they were good, but they were even better than I expected! I connected with the characters immediately and cannot wait for the next book. I devoured both books in just two days. That is a record for me, but I couldn't put them down! If you never listen to me about anything else, listen when I say this......You NEED to read these books. Need more convincing? Read my reviews below. And if that's not enough, read the reviews on Good Reads and Amazon!

Book One in the Evolve series by S.E. Hall ~ Emerge

Laney Walker is a quick witted, athletic, southern tomboy who lets few get too close, using her sarcastic zingers to deflect. She also has no idea how others view her, Evan having protected and coveted her since they were children. But college puts a gap between Laney and Evan that neither of them were prepared for- old relationships are tested, new ones are formed and nothing will ever be the same.

Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.

A story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.

Mature content.

My Review
I'm gonna try to write this without giving spoilers. It's gonna be hard, so bear with me.

Laney and Evan have been friends forever. Best Friends! Finally during senior year Evan shows his true feelings for Laney and they begin a relationship. Something Laney didn't even know she wanted until now. But they are extremely happy and Laney finds there's another side to her usual tomboy self. A side that likes to feel beautiful and to a point even girly. College is looming and Evan is going to UGA. Laney hasn't received her acceptance letter yet and it's driving her crazy thinking she will have to go to Southern without him. The end of Summer comes and her acceptance letter to UGA never arrives. So they agree that its better to start college single. This way no one has to worry about breaking each other's heart. Only it's not that simple. Can their friendship/relationship survive the distance?

Dane followed his older brother, Tate to UGA. He's almost always in Tate's dorm room, but he doesn't attend college. It's here that he meets Laney. There is an instant connection between the two, but Laney still misses Evan and feels guilty for even noticing how gorgeous Dane is. They become fast friends with a lot of sexual tension underneath the surface.

Whew, this book has me going in so many different directions. First let me say I loved every character. EVERY character. I HATE love triangles when I love all the people involved. This book has torn my emotions to shreds. And the ending? I am so glad book 2 is already out or I would be highly upset. I can't wait to see what unfolds in Embrace!

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

Book Two in the Evolve Series by S.E. Hall ~ Embrace

Evan Allen is a handsome, athletic, southern gentleman who now attends Georgia Southern University for no good reason.

After what he expected to be the romantic gesture of the century, Evan is looking at no friends, a year of ineligibility on the football team, and no girl.

He's starting over alone and doesn't know quite how to proceed. Certain members of The Crew refuse to let him face things by himself, taking him under their wing, and it doesn't take the ladies long to notice him, either.

Sometimes life doesn't go as you had planned. Sometimes it goes better.

Embrace it.

Embrace, the second book in the Evolve Series by S.E. Hall, follows the characters from her debut New Adult romance, Emerge.

My Review
At the end of Emerge, book 1, Evan has just had his heart crushed after finding out Laney has moved on with Dane. Sawyer takes pity on him and takes him for a drink to drown his sorrows. I knew exactly who would catch his eye, although I thought it would be out of revenge and not because he genuinely liked her. Can you guess who I'm talking about?  Whitley. I HATED her in the first book. She was a snobby, holier-than-thou bitch IMO. But we see a softer side of her in this book. And I actually came to even like her! Just like the old adage says, "Never judge a book...blah blah blah", Well, it actually rings true in this situation. It turns out she's just lonely and is doing what she's been "programmed" to do her whole life. She and Evan are perfect for each other and I am ecstatic that they've found happiness in each other!

I love that we get all of the characters in these books. And they don't just make a cameo, they are actually involved! Sawyer plays a large part in this one and I love it. He is my fave character by far. I can't wait to get to his book, Entice! And did you know we're getting a novella about Dane and Laney called Entangled? I am so HAPPY!

I loved this book even more than the first! I am extremely happy that the love triangle was not drawn out any longer than is was. And that Evan found his happy! I found myself smiling and even laughing through a large part of this book. There's a little sadness, lots of heart warming and a good dose of funny thrown in.

My fave quotes
"F*** this. Disney movies suck anyway - bring on porno."

"You need more than help Sam, you "bout to need Jesus."

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
