An innocent lady’s education could be a gentleman’s wicked seduction.
Mistress Matchmaker, Book 1
Lysandra Keates is running out of options. Her father is dead, her mother is ill, and her efforts to find respectable employment have ended in failure. With her small savings bleeding away, she swallows her pride—and her terror—and turns to Vivien Manning, an infamous courtesan, to match her with a wealthy protector.
For years, Viscount Andrew Callis has lived a monastic existence at his country estate, hardening his body against the snobbish, lazy young man he once was, hardening his heart against grief over the deaths of his wife and infant son. When Vivien asks him to spend one month training a young woman in the ways of a mistress, his mind resists…but his body responds with an ache he thought long dead.
As Andrew begins his gentle tutelage, he finds himself falling under the spell of Lysandra’s innocent charms. And as they give in to the powerful hunger, the last thing Andrew ever expected, or wanted, forms between them. An emotional connection that could carry them well past the training period—if only Andrew can open his heart to the possibility of love.
Warning: Includes training in all kinds of sexual positions and delights, as well as an emotional romance. May produce swooning.
Our Review
While taking into account that this book is an erotica novel, I really wasn’t expecting much from it other than a lot of hot and steamy sex scenes. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. While this story was undoubtedly hot and steamy, there was also a lovely love story to enjoy as well. I hate to have to admit it in writing for the whole world to see, but I have to be honest with you friends, towards the end of this tale I was equal parts outraged and devastated on the heroines behalf. It’s humiliating to have to admit that the tears were freely flowing. Not trickling, but raining down my cheeks. The only complaint I have with this enjoyable little book is that I personally would have liked to see the hero have to put forth a little more effort to win back the trust of our soft hearted heroine. I know you think he’s already been through so much and more than likely in your opinion I should cut the poor guy some slack. And you are right, I should. But I really just don’t want to. I just feel that he got off way to easy for what he did to her at the end of the story. Now with that being said, I personally recommend this book for the fans of erotica who like a little story to go along with their sex.
PS. Just making sure that I made myself clear, this is an erotica novel and was judged as such. I received this book from the author for review.
Great Book!
Writing as Jenna Petersen for historical romances and Jess Michaels for erotic romances (mostly historical), I wear a lot of hats. And I've been lucky to see my books become award-winners and bestsellers over the years. I've also been lucky to meet readers, other writers and editors/agents and be able to count many of them as friends.
I have a degree in Psychology from the University of Washington that I do not use except to make my characters lives hell. I am married to my best friend and we live in Tucson, AZ with our two cats. Some of my favorite things are travel, winning our family football pool, reading, being an aunt to two wonderful nephews and, of course, writing.
