Sunset Motel by Mallory Love (T.L. Haddix)

It started with a diary...

When author Samantha Crews purchases the contents of a storage unit, she has no idea that the antique desk inside holds an old diary that will change her life. But that’s exactly what happens.

As Samantha reads through the yellowed journal and accompanying letters, she’s drawn into a sensual web woven by the erotic story of a love affair between a sheltered young woman and a jaded, scarred recluse. To Samantha’s dismay, the diary ends abruptly, with nothing resolved.

Devastated by the parallels to her own life, she sets out on a quest to find out how the story ends. Will she discover that Colleen and Leo overcame the obstacles separating them to achieve a happily-ever-after? Or were the forces pulling at them too strong, their burgeoning love too fragile to survive?

Sunset Motel, Book One, is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences only. It contains explicit descriptions of M/F sexual intimacy. Reader discretion is advised.

My Review
Wow, I wasn't expecting much when I picked up this book. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I was transported to the past by the letters and diary entries. I was with Colleen as she wrote. I watched her as she experienced it all. The scenes played out before my eyes. I could picture everything as the author described it. The imagery, the emotions, the people were so real.

Sam is the main character but Colleen stole the show. I felt such a connection to her. I have never experienced anything like it. I won't say much about the plot because I don't want to steal your chance of experiencing this book. This book is a must read and I look forward to reading the next installment. I will definitely be reading more of this author's work!

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

T.L. Haddix was born in Hazard, Kentucky, a small town in the center of the Appalachian coal fields. Taught to read by her grandmother, T.L. has had a life-long love affair with books, devouring whatever she could get her hands on. From childhood favorites such as the Trixie Belden series and Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House” books, to her current favorites from authors like Tami Hoag, Alex Kava, J.A. Jance and Lisa Kleypas (among many others), T.L. still finds refuge in the written word.
“Growing up, I wanted to be everything – astronaut, police officer, doctor, teacher, reporter, psychologist – there was no clear choice for me. I wanted to do it all. Becoming a writer has allowed me to do just that, because I can live vicariously through my characters.”
A resident of southern Indiana, T.L. is hard at work on her next book, when she isn’t chasing after her three cat-children with her husband.
