All Hallow's Eve Indies Blog Tour ~ Featuring Gena D. Lutz

Thanks to Jessie Lane, Reading Between the Wines and Brandy Dorsch for hosting this fabulous tour!

I love Indie writers! Most of my favorite books are written by Indie authors! Today, I have the privilege of hosting Gena D. Lutz, author of Ember's Curse and Roxanne Desired.

For Prime-Werewolf Ember Stilwell, life has been far from normal. Decades ago, a vengeful Witch cursed her Pack, leaving the women of her line incapable of feeling love. When an organized group of immortal killers begin to stalk and capture wolves from her pack, she sets out on a path fraught with danger. Just when it seems the world as she knows it will be changed forever, she meets Collin, an Alpha Werewolf with a body built for sin. As her heart begins to heal, she comes to find that the demons of her past are not nearly as dangerous as the nightmares she will be forced to face in her future. Can finding her true love conquer all? Or will the ability to feel for the first time be overshadowed by losing everything else she holds dear?

My Review
I'm not sure I've ever read a book that had characters quite like these. Ember is a wolf but since her family was cursed ages ago she's part vampire too. She's a spunky, no holds barred kinda girl and I love it! The characters were written so well that I loved the secondary characters just as much as the MCs. I love a lot of action and this book didn't disappoint. Ember is kickin' ass and taking names everywhere she goes. Of course it doesn't hurt that her posse always has her back. Collin an Alpha wolf and also her mate. Nathan her loyal friend always ready to pick her up when she falls, Harper a vampire who is sarcastic but fiercely loyal and Teagan can cast some wicked spells. You wouldn't wanna mess with any of these guys!

In the book we follow Ember as she tries to solve the mystery of her missing pack mates. But she gets more than she bargained for. Now she has werewolves and vampires trying to kill her! Will she figure out what's going on in time to save them, or will she end up the next victim?

I can't wait to read Roxanne Desired, the next book in the Prime Wolf series. I can't wait to see Nathan happy. He really deserves it. It's sure to be full of action as well!

I purchased this book for review.

Interview with Gena D. Lutz

Tell us a little about your book… Ember’s Curse is a paranormal romance with a main focus on all sorts of different kinds of paranormal creatures. If you pay attention while reading it, you will notice that there are little to no humans in the book. Yet, the Werewolves, Vampires, Water Fae, and witches live in secret among them.
Do you write full time? If not, what do you do to bring home the bacon? I do write full time.
How long have you been writing? I wrote my first short story when I was very young. I think I was 7. It was about an Indian burial ground underneath my house (fiction)…the spirits of the tribe’s Chief became my guardian/protector.
Do you have plans for more books in the future? I have SO MANY books waiting to be written. Stories pop inside my head so frequently that I have made it a habit to at least title and then write out each one’s opening scene. This way, if I find myself between books (hasn’t happened yet) I have a ton of book ideas to choose from.
What is your favorite scene from the book? (If you can without spoilers) For some reason I really connected with a scene between Ember and Harper. In the scene they are bonding over a fun makeover session. My own laughter rang out as I wrote Ember’s first attempt at walking in heels. You should have seen her face! lol
Who is your dreamcast for Ember's Curse? This changes so much over time. But one character stays the same in my mind; Collin looks a lot like Tyler Hoechlin.

I love when supporting characters grab me just as much as the MCs. Was that your plan, or did it just happen as they story played out? I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed Ember’s motley crew of hooligans! I wrote them as I saw them play out in my mind…some of the stuff they would say or do shocked me…made me laugh, and in some instances(Sylvia) made me want to punch ‘em in the face!
I loved all the characters, but Harper really stood out for me. Will we be getting more of her? Harper is actually my favorite character. She is beautiful, loyal, has a mouth on her that would make a sailor blush, and isn’t afraid to fight for what she or who she believes in. So in answer to your question…YES…you will be seeing a lot of her as a supporting character, and then finally, in a book all of her own.
There's a lot of tension between Tegan and Milo, do I see love (or really hot sex) in the future for them? It’s funny you mentioned this. I felt the same tension between the two. But as it stands, they are not interested in each other in that way. I just think their personalities clash which usually means one of three things…they will become bitter enemies (not very likely), lovers, or the best of friends (most likely). ;)
The next book is Roxanne Desired, can you tell us a little about it? Roxanne’s book is a little gentler. There is fighting, love, some sex, and of course obstacles for her to overcome. But with Roxanne I had to reel my crazy imagination in a tad bit and let her story play out her way. In this book I also introduce a new character…his name is Harek and he is a scorcher!

Waking up fur covered and fanged isn't the easiest thing for a girl to deal with. Unfortunately, for Roxanne Delaney, that is her new reality. The only upside is finding herself the bondmate to one hot and sexy werewolf, Nathan Hayes. The downside; learning to adapt to a primal element that craves the rending of flesh and the oh-so-sweet taste of blood. Will this shy waitress-turned-wolf rise to the challenges of this new life—one that is now littered with otherworldly creatures hell-bent on destroying her and the people she cares for? Or will the pressures of a new-found love and difficult battles prove too much for Roxanne to handle?

When you are not writing what do you enjoy doing the most? Reading… I read A LOT.

Tell us a funny/weird quirk you have. I have to write with scented candles lit. I have a sensitive nose so I need pleasant scents all around me.
